Limit FAQ
Can I set different limits for different cardholders?
Yes. Limits are defined at the Behaviour level and apply to all cards using that Behaviour. You can override individual limits at the card level or associate the card with a different Behaviour, either through Vista or via the API.
NB If using override at the card level, the override value can not exceed the ceiling value set at Behaviour level.
What happens when a threshold period resets?
At the end of each threshold period (for example, at midnight for a daily limit), the cardholder's running totals for that period are automatically reset to zero. The cardholder's full limit is then available again for the new period.
If I update a limit at Behaviour level, does it affect all cards?
Yes with one exception. Updating a limit at Behaviour level applies the new value to all cards using that Behaviour, unless a card already has a bespoke override set at the card level. Cards with individual overrides keep their own values until you update them separately.
Does changing the default Behaviour on a product affect existing cards?
No. Changing the default Behaviour at the Product level only affects cards created after the change. Any existing cards remain on their current Behaviour. To move an existing card to a new Behaviour, use the Set Behaviour API.
Are fees included in value limit calculations?
Yes. When a value limit is incremented at authorisation or clearing, the amount used includes the transaction value plus any fees assessed at that point. This ensures limit totals accurately reflect the full value of the cardholder activity.
